The 2023 gubernatorial election is one that will continue to linger in the hearts of Lagos residents following a series of violence reported across the state.
Nollywood actor, Uche Maduagwu has reacted to the violence that took place earlier in the day in Lagos State which caused a lot of people to be disenfranchised.
According to reports and videos making rounds on social media, political thugs invaded different parts of the state to intimidate and stop people from voting. While in some parts of the state thugs allegedly stopped the Ndi Igbo from voting, in other parts, people were stopped no matter the tribe so long they are not voting the All Progressive Party candidate and incumbent governor of the state, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
Taking to his Instagram page Maduagwu said the elections have revealed to everyone that Lagos State no longer portrays its slogan ‘Centre of Excellency’ but rather a home for thuggery.
Revealing that his emotions took the larger part of him, Maduagwu said he wept as thugs attacked voters as he has never witnessed anything like it in over thirty years of living in the state.
He wrote: “This 2023 governorship election has shown the world that Lagos is no longer the centre of excellency but now centre of thuggery. I wept bitterly after seeing how thugs chassed and fight innocent voters in broad day light, in my 30 years of living in Lagos, I have never seen this ugly incident. Shame on APC government.
