In his goodwill message on Wednesday, Lawan said this Ramadan period provided an opportunity to also pray for the success of the incoming administrations both at the federal and state levels as they would assume the onerous tasks of continuing the building of a virile and prosperous Nigeria.
He said, “Ramadan is a glorious opportunity for the Islamic faithful to thank Allah for His mercies on us as individuals and as a nation and to further seek His guidance and blessings.
“This period of Ramadan has met us in Nigeria at a critical period. I do not see it as a mere coincidence that it falls within our political transition period.
“Let’s use the opportunity to thank Almighty Allah for the successes that we have so far recorded in the conduct of the general elections and to pray for a peaceful transition of power at the national and sub-national levels in the coming months.”
The Senate President added that as a country, Nigeria had made some good progress in its political voyage and still learning well to deal with “the usual challenges that those who have gone further than us in the journey had also encountered. For this reason, we have ample reasons to be thankful to Allah.”
Lawan then advised, “Equally, we should use the month of Ramadan to pray for the success of the incoming administrations at the federal and state levels as they will assume the onerous tasks of continuing the building of a virile and prosperous Nigeria.
“We should also pray for divine guidance for the incoming 10th National Assembly so that they can also successfully perform their roles for ensuring good governance in Nigeria.”
