Cristiano Ronaldo, the Portugal captain, has reacted to breaking yet another football record.
The footballer expressed happiness after breaking another international record following his side’s Euro 2024 qualifying 4-0 win over Liechtenstein on Thursday.
Ronaldo made his 197th appearance for Portugal during the victory against Liechtenstein, which puts him outright as the leading appearance maker in men’s international football.
Previously, the former Real Madrid and Manchester United forward had been tied with Bader Al-Mutawa of Kuwait, but he now holds the record alone.
The 38-year-old scored a brace against Liechtenstein, one of which was a trademark free kick.
Reacting, Ronaldo, in a post via his Twitter account, said he was proud to be the most international player ever.
The Al-Nassr star wrote, “Such good feelings to play and score again for our National Team and in a special stadium for me.”
“Proud to be the most capped international player ever.”
Sensações tão boas por voltar a jogar e marcar pela nossa Seleção e num estádio especial para mim. Orgulhoso por ser o jogador mais internacional de sempre.🙌🏽🇵🇹 pic.twitter.com/a6XcSEqLSE
