Men of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested four members of a robbery gang after the hoodlums allegedly robbed a community in the Ode-Remo area of the state and escaped to Lagos.
The suspects were identified as Habeeb Salaudeen, 24; Ezekiel Jayesimi, 30; Olamilekan Teniola, 22; and Olaitan Sonibare, 25.
The police reportedly received a distress call around 2.30am that armed robbers numbering about seven invaded a house on Cotco Road, Ode-Remo, and dispossessed residents of their belongings.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, in a statement on Friday, said the Ode-Remo Divisional Police Officer, CSP Fasogbon Olayemi, led his men to the scene and engaged the hoodlums in a gun battle.
“The robbers managed to escape in a white Rav 4 car, which they came with.
“Luck, however, ran against them when they were accosted by policemen at Warewa, who stopped them having seen the bullet hole on their vehicle.
“The robbers subsequently abandoned the car and ran away.
“They were technically trailed to the Mushin area of Lagos, where four of them were apprehended. They have all confessed to the crime.
“Recovered from them were four Iphones and 13 android phones,” the police spokesman added.
