A Nigerian-born medical professional and philanthropist based in the United States of America, Kole Akintujoye, is known to like helping underprivileged members of the society. According to him, the lack he endured in the past, motivated him to set up the foundation, Give us Our Daily Bread’.
He told Society Plus, “I can relate to being hungry. I can recall a period in my life when I went for days without food. In Nigeria, many people are hungry and in need of assistance. Many families go to bed hungry. We need to help people in need and put food on their tables every day. This made me establish my foundation. I have made the decision to divide my daily meals and share with someone who is truly hungry.”
Speaking on the challenges he encounters in running the charity organisation, Akintujoye said, “One of the challenges we confront is that there are always more people to feed than the resources available. We are seeking aid both locally and internationally because of this.”
Asked about the success stories the foundation had recorded, he said, “We have had many success stories. Almost 500 families have benefited from our assistance since we started in February 2022. Every day, we contribute our quota to save lives and bring smiles to people’s faces for as little as N1,000.”
Akintujoye also urged the government and other stakeholders to play their roles in eradicating hunger in the country. He said, “Both government and stakeholders, we all have a part to play. If we are consistently successful in eradicating hunger, everyone can succeed. Due to the limited resources, we can only feed so many people. The assistance of the government is crucial.”
