The Centre for Rural Development, under the State Ministry of Local Government and Community Matters, has trained a total of 500 rural dwellers in modern fishing methods.
During the exercise, empowerment materials were given to 100 participants from the Epe and Badagry divisions to enable them to take off smoothly.
Some of the items included two large fish holding plastic tanks, 1,000 juvenile fish, fish feeds of various sizes, as well as medications.
The Director and Chief Executive Officer of CERUD, Mr Stephen Adeniji, advised the beneficiaries to optimise the use of the materials given to them to enhance their economic well-being, while also contributing their quota to the state government’s agenda to increase agricultural production and enhance food security in Lagos State.
Showing appreciation for the gesture of the Lagos State Government, the beneficiaries promised to take advantage of the opportunity provided to improve their living standard and contribute to the agricultural development embarked upon by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration.
