Following the suspension of the Publicity Secretary, Mr Jare Ajayi, and Organizing Secretary, Abagun Omololu of the pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere by the leadership of the association, a group under the auspices of the Omoluabi Team Alliance Socio- Cultural Group, has condemned the resolutions of the Afenifere.
The Afenifere, on Tuesday, placed Ajayi and Omololu on an indefinite suspension at the meeting of the association, held at the residence of Pa Ayo Adebanjo, in Ogun State, following an alleged gross misconduct.
The association, in a communique issued at the end of the meeting also rejected the outcome of the last presidential election, won by Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, among other resolutions.
To this end, the Omoluabi Team Alliance Socio- Cultural Group, in a statement issued by his Chairman and Secretary, Mr Jaiyeola and Akinfolarin Alex respectively, described the meeting of the Afenifere held in Adebanjo’s residence as illegal.
According to the statement, the OTASCG said the meeting of the Afenifere were attended by some unknown members of the group. It also condemned the resolutions of the Afenifere group, which included the rejection of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu as the winner of the February 25 presidential election.
The statement read, “The resolutions further portray Pa Ayo Adebanjo-led Afenifere as confused people with a misplaced priority. Its description of the Presidential election held on the 25th of February 2023 as being characterized by all forms of primitive manipulations and non- compliance with the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria is totally condemnable.
“It baffles us to think that they will make statements that rubbishes a very free, fair and credible election that stands acceptable to Nigerians who all went out to exercise their franchise willingly without any financial inducement.
” It is unacceptable that a few people or an individual use their selfish interest to condemn the outcome of an election that produced a competent, credible, trusted, tested, experienced and a fully prepared President-elect like the calibre of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to whom Nigerians have given the baton to provide a leadership’s style that will help re- fix the country in all sectors beginning from May 29th, 2023.
“On the other hand their claim that results of the presidential election available to their group from claimed credible sources that Peter Obi of the Labour Party won the election calls for questioning.
“We enjoin members of the public and right thinking indigenes of Yoruba land and the South-West to ignore in totality resolutions arising from illegal meetings premised on selfish interest.”
