Governors-elect of Rivers State, Siminialayi Fubara; Delta State, Mr Sheriff Oborevwori; and Taraba State, Lt. Col. Agbu Kefas, as well as other states, on Wednesday, received their Certificates of Return from the Independent National Electoral Commission.
INEC’s National Commissioner supervising Akwa-Ibom, Bayelsa, and Rivers states, Mrs May Agbamuche-Mbu, in Port Harcourt, handed over the certificates to Fubara; his deputy, Ngozi Odu; and the 32 members-elect of the Rivers State House of Assembly.
Speaking after receiving his certificate, Fubara said, “For the opposition, our doors are open, including our window. If you don’t want to pass the door, you can enter through the window because we really need everyone on board for a better and more progressive Rivers State.”
Also, Oborevwori expressed happiness for the success of the election after receiving his Certificate of Return from the Resident Electoral Commissioner in Delta State, Mr Monday Tom.
He said, “I’m very very happy to receive Certificate of Return from INEC. It is an important day for me.
“The Peoples Democratic Party worked very hard to win the election, especially the Ethiope East where the PDP never won election for the past 20 years.”
Meanwhile, Kefas said he would prioritise security and infrastructural development when he assumes office on May 29.
Kefas disclosed this in an interview with journalists after he received his Certificate of Return from INEC in Jalingo.
He said, “I will look at where the government has stopped and continue where necessary. I will prioritise security of lives of property, promote agriculture, stomach infrastructure to give our people good quality life, improve health care for the betterment of the people.
