The lawyer of the arrested passenger, Barr. Ejike Ugwu, who unveiled his identity, said that his client, Obiajulu Uja, is not in a right state of mind.
Uja, who is from Oji-River Local Government Area of Enugu State, was carried off the plane and arrested while voicing out that President-elect Bola Tinubu must never be sworn-in,
Ugwu, who spoke exclusively to Daily Post, said he was at the Airport Police Division to see the suspect, but the police were yet to provide him (the suspect) with medical care despite his bad state.
“Obiajulu is not in the right state of mind before he boarded the flight. He was chased away from a hotel in Abuja because of his mental state.
“He even booked three different flights for the Lagos trip. He booked Aero, Dana and Ibom Air. He had the three tickets for the same trip. So, there is no doubt that he is mentally challenged,” Ugwu said.
He added, “As I speak to you, both the IPO handling the case and the DPO of the Police Division are nowhere to be found. And the suspect’s legs are all swollen now because of the several beatings he received at the Airport. He is critically sick right now.”
Uja was on Friday evening carried off an Abuja to Lagos flight.
The middle-aged lone protester was said to have announced that the President-elect, Bola Tinubu, must never be sworn in as president on May 29.
In the viral video that made the rounds on Saturday, it took the efforts of no fewer than six airport security officers to evacuate him after holding up the aircraft for more than an hour, as the 6pm flight had yet to move as of 7pm.
