Senator Orji Kalu, the former governor of Abia State, has announced the death of his first wife, Mrs Ifeoma Kalu, who died at the age of 61.
In a post signed by him on his official social media page, the former governor and Senate Chief Whip described Ifeoma as a woman of virtue who was devoted to the service of God and humanity.
“With a heavy heart and pain, we announce the passing on to the eternal glory of Mrs Ifeoma Ada Kalu, aged 61,” Kalu wrote.
“She was a woman of virtue who dedicated her life to the service of God and humanity.” “A memorial service in her honor is planned in the United States of America.”
During this difficult time, he urged the public to remember Mrs Ifeoma and her loved ones in their prayers.
The former governor married Ifeoma Ada Menakaya in December 1989 in his hometown of Igbere, Abia State and they have four children namely Neya Uzor Kalu, Michael Uzor Kalu, Olivia Uzor Kalu and Nicole Uzor Kalu.
Kalu currently serves as the Chief Whip of the Senate. He was Abia State governor from 1999 to 2007
