A man, Abdurrahman Abdullahi; his wife, Zainab; and their daughter, Husna, have been reportedly burnt to death in a fire outbreak in Kafanchan town, the Jema’a Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
They were said to be asleep when the fire broke out.
As of the time of filing this report, the cause of the fire was still unknown as residents said they only saw smoke from the house at about 11pm on Tuesday.
One of the victims’ neighbours, Maikano Abdullahi, who also lost belongings to the fire, explained that all efforts made by those who came to the house to rescue the family members from the fire failed.
He said, “I woke up upon hearing my wife shouting for help as fire gutted Zainab’s room which is next to our room.
“What happened was terrible. We tried our best to break the door at the time of the fire incident but we could not enter because the door was locked.
“Unfortunately, the couple; Abdurrahman Abdullahi aka Danjummai, his wife, Zainab Nuhu and a daughter, Husna, all lost their lives in the inferno before we succeeded in breaking the door.”
A friend of the deceased, Sani Abbas, said he heard of the incident less than 30 minutes after he left Abdullahi and returned home to sleep.
The Jama’a Emirate Council through the Madakin Jama’a and the District Head of Fada, Alhaji Audi Muhammad, and the Council Chairman, Jema’a Local Government, Yunana Barde, paid condolence visits to the family members of the deceased at their residence in Jema’a Street, Kafanchan after the burial according to Islamic rites.
