Nigerian forwards Victor Boniface and Gift Orban will lock horns as Gent host Union Saint-Gilloise in a Belgian Jupilier league encounter at the Ghelamco Arena on Saturday, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
Both teams are on a winning streak of four games heanding into this fixture. Union Saint-Gilloise are currently placed second on 68 points through 31 matches. They are three points behind first-placed Genk while Gent are in fourth place with 54 points from 31 matches.
The duo have been in tremendous form for their respective clubs this season with Orban scoring nine goals in his first seven league games (14 in all competitions) for the club while Boniface has found the back of the net seven times in 28 league games with five assists (14 goals in 40 games since he joined Union Saint-Gilloise).
Orban who has scored seven goals in his last five league games will be eager to extend his goalscoring form at home against Union Saint-Gilloise and help his side secure their first win over their visitors since 2021.
For Boniface, he will be desperate to return to scoring form for Union Saint-Gilloise having gone four games (42 days) without a goal.
The previous league fixture between both clubs saw Union Saint-Gilloise come out on top 2-0 at Stade Joseph Mariën in October, 2022. Goals from Lazare Amani and Dante Vanzeir secured victory.
Union Saint-Gilloise have got the better of Gent of late, unbeaten in their last three league matches with two wins and a draw while Gent are looking for their first league win in encounters between the two sides since October 2021.
