3SC vs Remo
Safe to say the feel good factor is currently in the camp of 3SC of Ibadan who host southwest rivals Remo Stars in a cracking derby on match-day of the 2022/23 abridged Nigeria Professional Football League season on Sunday (today), PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
After two consecutive wins against Plateau United at home and Kwara United on the road, it appears Gbenga Ogunbote and 3SC are putting their struggles behind but their match-day 13 opponents present another formidable test for the Oluyole Warriors to get their campaign back on track and push forba top-three finish in Group A.
Remo Stars have had a strong restart with two consecutive wins on match-day 10 and 11, but they faltered at home against Gombe United on match-day 12, a game to quickly forget for them as they had Dayo Ojo sent off and also docked three points and three goals for an alleged attack on the referee which forced the game to be suspended at the break.
As it is, Remo Stars are the team to get their woes behind them and try to reignite their season, having dropped to fifth place on the table with 18 points. They now sit two points and a place above their hosts, whom they beat 2-0 in the first leg in Ikenne.
A win for 3SC in this fixture will be their first over Remo Stars in the NPFL and it will also get 3SC above Remo on the table.
As both teams will clash again, attention will be on the managers once again. 3SC coach, Gbenga Ogunbote led Remo Stars to a famous 1-1 draw in this fixture last season having won the first leg at home. Since the return of Daniel Ogunmodede to the dugout in Ikenne, he has masterminded a win over the man who steadied the ship in his absence.
Also, striker, Sikiru Alimi will also be in the mix of things with Ibadan fans looking forward to his goals for the club since joining at the start of the season. Last season, he was on target for the Sky Blue Stars as they ran away with a 1-1 draw in Ibadan.
