The remains of former Chairman of Shooting Stars Sports Club, Pa Samson Olayiwola, popularly called Lakondoro, who died at age of 111, on Thursday, have been committed to mother earth.
The PUNCH reports that Lankodoro, who died on Thursday morning, was the chairman of the Oluyole Warriors in 2014.
The brief but well-attended burial ceremony was held at his residence at Ajadi Area in Ologuneru, Ido Local Government Area of Oyo State.
Speaking on his demise, the Executive Chairman of 3SC, Babatunde Olaniyan, popularly called Akoro, described it as a huge loss, not only to the club but the football community.
He said, “We’ve lost a passionate lover of Shooting Stars and the round leather game as a whole. He was such a die hard fan of the club, even at his old age
“As the chairman of 3SC, he contributed immensely to the success of the club and even after leaving office, he dedicated his time to supporting the club.
“We take solace in the fact that Baba lived a fulfilled life and enjoyed the labour of his hands till he died at a ripe age. We pray God grants him eternal rest,” he prayed.
Lakondoro was a staunch supporter of the Oluyole Warriors before he was appointed as the club’s chairman in 2014 by the late Senator Abiola Ajimobi, who was then the governor of Oyo State.
