The Grand Khadi of Kwara Sharia Court of Appeal, Justice AbdulLateef Kamaldeen, has called on Muslims to always remember death, saying life is by principle and not by miracle.
He stated this during a Ramadan lecture organised by Ma’asalam Islamic Foundation in Ilorin on Saturday.
Kamaldeen noted that everybody would certainly die one day, no matter how long or good a person lives, saying, “if only people know their end, they will be of good conduct”.
“We are now in a world where people live the way they like, but whoever does an atom of good deed will be rewarded, likewise for those that do bad.
“Where is Justice Mustapha Akanbi today? He is dead, but his good legacy remains and people still appreciate all the good deeds he did while he was alive.
“This is because he always had good intentions and feared Allah during his lifetime. So everybody should remember Allah in all they do and wherever they find themselves,” the News Agency of Nigeria quoted him as saying.
The Grand Khadi reminded the faithful about the fear of Allah, such as remembering Allah before saying anything.
He also advised Nigerians to talk less and be conscious of Almighty Allah, as well as be pious and exhibit all the things that were stated in the holy Qur’an.
“Muslims should worship only Almighty Allah without joining other things in worship, respect their parents always, do not kill, release the property of orphans to them when due and be just in their dealings,” he added.
Also speaking, the acting Vice Chancellor of Kwara State University, Prof Sheikh Lukman, said that the programme was the 15th edition of the Ramadan lecture organised by the foundation established by the late Justice Mustapha Akanbi, the pioneer chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission.
Lukman said that the programme was a good development in the lives of Muslims and prayed that it continued as it helps to educate Muslims on what Allah commanded.
The Director of the foundation, Malam Usman Akanbi, said the lecture was deliberately organised to remind Muslims, especially during the holy month of Ramadan, to ensure they exhibited the highest level of piety.
