Isu leaders threaten to burn INEC office over election results

Youths and leaders of Isu Local Government Area of Imo State on Sunday threatened to burn down the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission and the local government area headquarters in the community over the alleged failure of the electoral body to declare the alleged winner of the supplementary election, Barrister Kingsley Ozurumba.

The youths and leaders of the community claim that Ozurumba, the candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Imo State House of Assembly, Isu State Constituency, won the rescheduled election.

According to them, Ozurumba won Saturday’s supplementary elections.

They accused the state Resident Electoral Commissioner, Professor Sylvia Agu, of not allowing the will of the people to prevail.

One of the APC stalwarts said: “We wish to put on record the mind-boggling ineptitude of Prof. Agu and INEC in the conduct of Saturday’s supplementary election in Imo, particularly Isu.

“We reject, in advance, any and all results for the House of Assembly elections conducted by the current REC and her team.”
