The Federal Government has commenced the registration of unemployed persons in the 20 local government areas of Lagos State.
The exercise is being carried out by the National Directorate of Employment set up in 1986 to curb mass unemployment and reduce the craving for white-collar jobs that are not adequate for the teeming number of graduates churned out every year.
Registration commenced on Monday and would continue until April 28, a statement issued by the Lagos State Office of the NDE disclosed.
The Lagos State coordinator, Mrs Serena Edward, explained that the registration would hold at 7 Barikisu Iyede Street, Onike, Yaba, and the 20 local government areas in the state concurrently.
Edward urged unemployed people in the state to take advantage of the opportunity in order to benefit from the programme.
According to her, the Federal Government wants to have complete data on the unemployed in the country so as to make an adequate plans for them.
