Ademola Lookman has been ruled out of Atalanta’s Serie A clash against Roma on Monday, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
The Nigeria international missed the Blue-and-Blacks 1-1 draw away at Fiorentina last Monday due to a physical problem and was subjected to some further tests.
The result has confirmed that the 25-year-old forward copped a muscle strain to his right thigh, according to a report on Italian website Tuttomercatoweb.
“Ademola (Lookman) will not take part in Atalanta-Roma, a game that will close the match schedule of the week 31st fixture on Monday evening,” the report reads.
“The player has been subjected to further tests and the first diagnosis confirmed a muscle strain to the hamstring of the right thigh.
The report also added that he could make his return from injury when Atalanta travel to Turin to face Torino on April 29.
“Lookman will try to recover for the next match, the one against Turin.”
Since joining from Leipzig during the summer transfer window, the 25-year-old has settled in perfectly in Italy and is currently Atalanta’s top goalscorer in Serie A this season with 13 goals and five assists from 28 games.
Gasperini will, however, hope Lookman’s injury is a minor one as expected as the club currently occupy sixth position in Serie A with 49 points from 30 games.
Atalanta are still in the running for a place in the UEFA Champions League with just four points separating them from fourth-place Roma, who have 56 points.
