The Katsina State Police Command on Thursday evening announced the deployment of security operatives from the command and other sister agencies to all Eid praying grounds across the state, as part of measures to ensure a hitch-free celebration.
The operatives were also deployed to recreational centres, business districts, national buildings and highways.
The spokesman for the command, CSP Gambo Isah, made the revelation in a statement made public in Katsina.
The command declared that in as much as it felicitated with Muslims on the end of the Ramadan fast, it would deal ruthlessly with hooligans or any criminals who wanted to foment trouble during the festival.
The Command also warned parents to monitor the movements of their children and wards during the festival.
The statement also read, “The Katsina State Police Command, wishes to felicitate with the good people of the state on the occasion of Eid-el-Fitr Sallah celebrations.
“The Command in partnership with other sister organisations in the state has put in place adequate security arrangements to ensure a hitch-free Sallah celebration in the state.
“Personnel have been drawn from Conventional, Tactical and Logistical units of the Command and are strategically posted to cover all the Eid praying grounds in the state, festivities, recreational centres, business districts, major highways and other critical national infrastructure.
“The command enjoins parents to look after their wards while motorists and other highway users are cautioned to exercise maximum restraint and avoid overspeeding or other acts capable of endangering the lives and property of the good people of the state.
“The command will arrest and deal decisively with any person or group of persons coming out in the name of Kauraye (social miscreant) to foment trouble during the period as police patrol teams have been adequately prepared to arrest them.
“The command congratulates the Muslim Ummah and wishes them happy Eidil Fitr Sallah celebrations. He urged them to continue to pray for peace and security of the state and the nation at large.
