The Methodist Church Nigeria, Diocese of Lagos West, has announced April 21 as the day for the commencement of its 2023 Annual Synod.
The three-day event, tagged, “Contending for the faith,” will hold at the Methodist Church Nigeria, Cathedral of Blessing, Palm Avenue, Mushin, Lagos, and will commence with ministerial and lay sessions.
On the second day of the event, the lawmaker-elect representing Mushin Constituent 2 in the House of Representatives, Oluwatoyin Fayinka, will declare the synod open.
According to a statement signed by the Public Relations Adviser, MCN, Diocese of Lagos West, Abiona Babarinde, the theme is expected to challenge Christians to fight for what they believe in as children of God in order to turn Nigeria around for good.
The statement quoted the Chief Host of the Synod, the Diocesan Bishop, Rt. Revd. Ezekiel Akande, as saying, “The promise of God to us as a nation and the whole world, in general, is to bring a total stoppage to all the calamities in our land, all natural disasters and self-destructions around us and ultimately turn all our challenges to opportunities with the new things that God will do in our lives as his beloved children.”
