To this end, the rector declared that the polytechnic had zero tolerance for all forms of indiscipline.
The rector stated this at the seventh matriculation ceremony for the National Diploma and the second matriculation for Higher National Diploma students of the institution.
According to him, the polytechnic’s handbooks given to the students were to guide the new students on the dos and don’ts of the school.
Addressing the students, Omogbehin said, “You must not at any point in time soil the good name of this institution. The matriculants must bear in mind at all times that the Federal Polytechnic, Ile- Oluji has zero tolerance for indiscipline under any disguise; disobedience to the polytechnic rules and regulations, truancy, drug use and abuse, examination malpractice, cultism and any other social vices are highly intolerable.
“However, any student caught contravening the above-mentioned social vices, shall not be spared by evoking the sanctions contained in the student handbook and other extant laws.”
The federal polytechnic boss noted that the school had succeeded in producing manpower in the field of technology, innovation and management for national development, adding that it has also developed individuals in various technical and managerial skills, through qualitative training and relevant educational programmes.
“One of the choices we have to make in contemporary society today is that technical and vocational education is the way to go. This is because it enhances the type of self-help needed to battle the unemployment ravaging our dear country,” Omogbehin stated.
