It’s no news that the 20-year-old singer who rose to fame after signing to Don Jazzy’s Mavin Records has been subjected to heavy scrutiny and criticism for her choice of outfits.
She has repeatedly been dragged to filth for wearing revealing outfits in her photos, music videos, and while performing on stage.
Reacting to the controversy surrounding her fashion style, the ‘Rush’ crooner told her critics to keep their opinions to themselves because they are not her pastor or mother.
In a recent interview with Kiss FM, London, Ayra starr said,
“You are not my pastor, you are not Jesus, you are not my mother, so keep it to yourself. I don’t wanna know. I don’t give a damn.”
A while back, Ayra Starr expressed the opinion that female artists are not typically held to the same standards as their male counterparts.
The ‘Rush’ crooner shared this known while speaking in a recent interview with Saturday Beats.
In her words;
“I am grateful to the women who came before me, who paved the way. Because of them, I am not dealing with so much. However, there is still that issue of female artistes being scrutinised more than their male colleagues. Female artistes are not held to the same standards as the males.”
