PUNCH Metro gathered that the community leaders after rising from a crucíal meeting with the management of all banks in the kingdom as well as traders from the cąttle mąrket and petroleum mąrketers in Ogharefe-Oghara, resolved that “henceforth nobody should sęll or bųy cash with a view to extorting the people by sęlling cash to them”.
Consequently, the stakeholders were said to have pegged the PoS charges per transactions “at N200 for every N10,000.00 which is 2%”.
While noting that the official CBN charge is 1%, that is, N100 for every N10,000 withdrawals, the community resolved that PoS operators can charge N200 for N10,000.00 withdrawals.
The community therefore advised all PoS operators “to desíst from acts that would land them in seríous críses with the laws of Oghara Kingdom”.
Our correspondent gathered that a task force was put in place to ąrrest and prosecųte anybody found guílty of contravening the resolution.
“After much deliberations, it was prohibited henceforth that nobody should buy or sell cash to PoS operators because it amounts to zero gains as the charges per transactions has been pegged at N200 for every N10,000.00 which is 2%”, the stakeholders resolved.
It was further gathered that the leadership of the community had two weeks ago issued an earlier warning through the town criers, over the excesses of the PoS operators.
The police public relations officer (PPRO) for Delta State Command, DSP Bright Edafe could not be reached for comments on the development as of the time of filing this report.
