According to a statement released on Friday, the Commissioner for Information, Paul Nwosu, said 25 touts were arrested in a recent raid carried out by a crack team of OCHA Brigade at Upper Iweka and Obosi areas of the state.
Nwosu said the state government had repeatedly restated that agberos had been banned in the state because it did not provide a sustainable means of livelihood and it encouraged anti-social behaviours that were incompatible with a liveable and pleasurable new Anambra.
He said, “Government had offered to provide agberos with employment but they must, first of all, go and register their names and phone numbers with their respective local governments.
“The OCHA Brigade Commander disclosed that his men will ramp up their enforcement in days ahead since these touts have refused to accept the olive branch extended to them by the government.”
