A talent manager and digital media expert, Olanrewaju Alaka, aka LaerryBlue, has said that talented entertainers will struggle to make the most of their careers if they don’t have good talent managers.
In an interview with Sunday Scoop, he said, “Without a good talent manager, even the most talented and diligent artistes will struggle to succeed in the entertainment industry. Talented artistes need someone who can help them navigate the complex web of the industry, and that is where talent managers come in. Being talented alone cannot take one to the top. A good manager who understands the business will hold one by the hand and show one how things works.”
LaerryBlue, who is a former manager of popular cross dresser, James Brown, noted that working with the latter was a unique experience that taught him a lot about the entertainment industry in Nigeria. He said, “I gained a lot of experience while working with James Brown. I learnt authenticity, and telling the right narratives, among other things. There is a need for celebrities to be true to themselves and not try to conform to societal norms or expectations.”
