An investigation by PUNCH Metro revealed that luck ran against them after dispossessing a trader of his valuables on top of the bridge, on Tuesday.
The victim, as reliably gathered, was thrown out of the vehicle by the suspected robbers.
Our correspondent gathered that the suspects were trailed by the motorcyclists over the suspicious behaviour of the suspects after leaving the popular Ojo motor park.
However, after throwing the victim off the cab, the motorcyclists raised the alarm to draw the attention of the residents and passersby to the incident.
Irked by the development, the mob descended heavily on the suspects by beating them to stupor and later setting them ablaze.
One of the eyewitnesses, Kunle Babayemi, said, “The armed robbers had already collected the trader’s money but the motorcyclists behind them discovered that they were arguing in the car. So, they were following them gradually. The suspects were three in number. There was a lady among them who narrowly escaped. She jumped out of the car.
“When she realised that people are after them, she escaped through the bush. We tried to locate her but unfortunately, she escaped,” Babayemi lamented.
As of press time, all efforts to get the Police Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso’s reaction was not successful as his mobile number was unreachable.
