Former Super Eagles coach and a member of the FIFA Technical Study Group at the 2022 World Cup, Sunday Oliseh, has faulted Chelsea interim manager Frank Lampard’s tactics against Arsenal after the disappointing Blues fell to a 3-1 defeat to the Gunners in a Premier League fixture at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday.
The ex-international kicked against Lampard’s tactical approach of playing French midfielder N’Golo Kante out of position and saw Mikel Arteta’s side take charge of the match
The 32-year-old defensive midfielder was deployed to the right side of the midfield alongside Enzo Fernández and Mateo Kovacic in Lampard’s 4-3-3 formation.
Martin Odegaard scored the first two goals, twice capitalising on dismal Chelsea defending to dispatch Granit Xhaka crosses, with Gabriel Jesus then adding the third from close range to seal a comfortable win.
Nigerian-Dutch forward Noni Madueke pulled a goal back for Chelsea midway through the second half, but it proved to be only a consolation for the 12th-place visitors, whose season continues to attain new depths.
The 48-year-old posted on his Twitter page stating his disappointment over the Chelsea legend’s tactical blunder.
“Arsenal was on fire vs. Chelsea!”Oliseh said on his Twitter page.
“I am totally dumbfounded by Chelsea and most especially how on earth it is possible for N’golo Kante, who has won virtually everything with Chelsea and France as the greatest defensive midfielder of his generation, is continually played out of position!” he continued.
The Blues are 12th on the table and have lost their sixth straight matches under Lampard.
According to Opta, Lampard has now lost each of the last 10 matches he’s taken charge of across all competitions – he is the first English manager to lose 10 in a row while in charge of a top-flight team since Arthur Cox in February 1988 with Derby.
