Late American hip-hop legend, Tupac Shakur, will have a street in Oakland renamed after him in California, United States.
The decision followed a unanimous vote by the city council on Tuesday, Daily Mail reported on Thursday.
According to legislation obtained by NBC, a stretch of MacArthur Boulevard by Lake Merritt where Shakur once lived will keep its existing name, but also receive the additional honorary name of Tupac Shakur Way.
Tupac was chosen for his contributions to Oakland and the celebration of art and culture as a catalyst for societal change.
His Foundation will be in charge of the commemorative plaques and signs signalling the change expenses of the event.
Tupac died from a drive-by shooting in 1996 when he was just 25.
