An Ogba Magistrates’ Court sitting in the Ikeja area of Lagos State on Friday remanded a man, Kamilu Mohammed, in the Kirikiri Custodial Centre for allegedly possessing guns and other weapons, which he used to rob unsuspecting members of the public of their belongings in the Ojo Local Government Area of Lagos State.
The police prosecutor, Kehinde Ajayi, told the court that the defendant had in his possession seven locally-made pistols and 63 live cartridges and when accosted by the police, he was unable to give a satisfactory response.
His accomplices were said to be currently at large.
The charge preferred against him read in part, “That you, Kamilu Mohammed, and others now at large between 2020 and 2023 around 10.25am at Mile 2, Ojo Road, the Ojo Local Government Area of Lagos in the Lagos Magisterial District did conspire among yourselves to commit felony to wit armed robbery and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 299 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.”
The Magistrate, E. Kubenje, adjourned the case till June 20, 2023.
