The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, who confirmed the development during a telephone conversation with our correspondent, said the Presidential team arrived in Lagos a few days ago.
He, however, noted that the command had been planning for the event for over two weeks, adding that the command alongside the team delegated by the President, and other sister agencies had made adequate preparation to avert tragedy and ensure the protection of life and property during and after the event.
“We are fully prepared to provide the requisite security for all dignitaries and invited guests. We have been planning for over two weeks. The advance team of Mr President arrived a few days ago and has been working with us and other sister security agencies. We are confident everything will be fine,” Hundeyin said in reaction to a question on the command’s readiness for the official opening of the Dangote Refinery in the state.
As the Dangote Refinery begins operations today, the 650,000 barrels per day oil processing facility was designed to process crude oil grades from the three continents of Africa, Asia and America.
It was also gathered that the refinery would deliver a surplus of about 38 million litres of petrol, diesel, kerosene and aviation fuel for Nigeria daily, hence it would meet the 100 per cent fuel supply requirement of the country.
