As part of the Africa Day celebration, Hilton Hotels is promoting African cultures through a series of collaborations with African artists.
In a statement made available to The PUNCH on Tuesday, it noted that the artistic partnerships not only celebrate local culture but also aligned with Hilton’s Travel with Purpose ESG strategy, which aimed to make a positive impact on the communities where Hilton operates worldwide.
“Across Africa and the Indian Ocean region, Hilton hotels are actively supporting their local communities and shedding light on indigenous cultures by teaming up with artists to create stunning installations, showcase their artworks, and provide them with opportunities to sell their pieces.
“Art exhibitions and fairs are being hosted in various hotels, with each artwork telling a captivating story ranging from African mythology and creativity to the use of sustainable sourcing and recyclable materials,” it explained.
According to Hilton, one of the collaborations took place at Transcorp Hilton Abuja, where the renowned Nigerian artist Nduwhite Ndubuisi Ahanonu partnered with the hotel to create ‘The Face,’ an installation crafted from recycled materials collected from the hotel’s garage and workstation.
