Governor Aminu Masari commissioned the first flyover in Katsina State on Tuesday.
The flyover, which cost the state government N6.4 billion, is located at the Central Roundabout, GRA, Katsina.
The governor said the flyover would tackle traffic congestion and ease vehicular movement in the area.
He said the contract for the project was initially awarded in 2022 at N4.3 billion, adding that it was reviewed upward to take care of additional work and compensation for those whose structures were affected by the construction.
Governor Masari explained that the flyover, as well as two underpass bridges earlier commissioned last January and other various road projects embarked upon by his administration, were meant to aid the infrastructural development of Katsina State.
He added that his regime also constructed rural feeder roads to facilitate the transportation of farm products to cities.
He said, “All these projects have been completed and are being utilised by motorists and other road users. These projects have no doubt improved the living conditions of people of Katsina State.”
Meanwhile, Masari will hold a valedictory executive council meeting with members of his cabinet on Wednesday afternoon, according to the timetable of his engagements to round up his tenure as the state governor.
