The spokesman of the command, DSP Bright Edafe, told newsmen on Tuesday in Warri that the suspect was arrested on Monday by the operatives attached to the Orerokpe Police Division.
Edafe said that the suspect, who had been on the command’s wanted list, was sighted on a motorcycle at Okwukoko Community in Okpe local government area.
He said that the Divisional Police Officer, Orerokpe Division, SP Paul Obaware, upon receiving the information, mobilised the patrol team of the division alongside members of the anti-cult to trail the suspect.
“On May 22, the patrol team, alongside the local anti-cult embarked on a technical intelligence-led operation and trailed the suspect to his hideout at Okwukoko and arrested.
“When a search was conducted on him, a locally-made English Beretta pistol was recovered from him.
“Investigation revealed that the suspect was on his way to supply the arm to one of his customers at Jakpa junction, Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area, at the cost of N250,000.
“Investigation and manhunt for the said customer and other accomplices is ongoing,” he said.
In another development, Edafe said that the command arrested two suspects and recovered assorted arms and ammunition from them at Otefe Community, Ethiope West Local Government Area of the state.
He said that the feat was recorded on Monday by the operatives attached to the Oghara Police Division in Ethiope West and the State Investigation Bureau during a raid at the criminals’ hideout.
Edafe said that one pump action gun, two double barrel cut-to-size, one battle axe, and three live cartridges were recovered from the suspects.
He said that the investigation into the matter was ongoing.
