Prior to his nomination as the running mate of the President-elect, Bola Tinubu, it was reported that Shettima bought the expression of interest and nomination forms to contest for the Senate.
In recent times, the double nomination of Shettima has been a subject of heavy criticism. He was also dragged to the Supreme Court.
In a statement issued on Wednesday in Abuja, Shehu Sani cited the Senate President, Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan, as an example. He said Lawan contested the presidential election and also re-contested to represent Yobe North Senatorial, which he won.
He also made reference to Godswill Akpabio, who is a senator-elect, awaiting inauguration, but contested the presidential election.
Hence, he cautioned that Shettima had found himself in the same situation.
Sani said, “What was good for Ahmed Lawan and Akpabio is good for Shetima.
“I don’t expect the Supreme Court to rule against the double nomination.”
He emphasised that no Nigerian should be denied the right and privilege of seeking another office if he fails to win one.
