The Nigeria Police Force has completed a three-day induction course wherein officers appointed as Chief Security Officers, Aide-de-Camps, and orderlies to newly-elected states governors and other Very Important Persons were trained in their duties and responsibilities while carrying out protective services in their different postings.
The training was completed on Wednesday, May 24, 2023, at the Goodluck Jonathan Peacekeeping Hall, Force Headquarters, Abuja.
According to a statement on Thursday by the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba, tasked the CSOs and ADCs to the newly-elected governors and top government functioneries on professionalism and commitment to police ethos.
Adejobi said, “The induction course catered to 53 CSOs and ADCs, as well as 18 orderlies. The training similarly covered the Rules of Engagement and standard operational procedures to apply in various simulated situations as well as specific policies and etiquettes for strict adherence.
“Seasoned officers with a wealth of experiential knowledge, led by the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba, were on the ground to coordinate the course.
“The IG emphasised the role of professionalism and commitment in effectively carrying out these specialised policing services and charged the officers and men to continuously develop themselves for efficiency.”
Meanwhile, the IG has ordered the immediate posting of four Commissioners of Police to Rivers and Cross Rivers States, the Department of Finance and Administration ICT, Force Headquarters, Abuja, and the Force Criminal Investigation Department, Enugu Annex.
The Force PRO, Adejobi, in another statement on Thursday said the posting was with immediate effect.
Adejobi said, “The IG has tasked the Commissioners of Police to deploy all requisite assets in ensuring sanity, professional standards and discipline in all ramifications in their new places of assignment.
“He has further charged the senior police officers to effectively apply their wealth of experiences to improve existing structural arrangements towards achieving a citizen-focused and community-oriented policing system.”
