An afro-pop singer and rapper, Lawal Olumo, popularly known as Konga, has been in the industry for some time. Though he went off the radar for some time, he says he is back for good.
In an encounter with Sunday Scoop, he said, “Believe me when I say that I have been blown away by the evolution of afrobeats and other contemporary genres in Africa in the last two decades. My new single portrays my newly found love for the amapiano sound, which resonates with the younger generation.
“With my comeback to the industry, I intend to extensively collaborate with the living legends of my time and the ones that will take over. It will be a great opportunity to work with artistes such as Olamide, Mr Eazi, Asake, Tiwa Savage, Ladipoe, Seyi Vibes, Zlatan, Naira Marley and Zinolesky. I will like to explore their creativity, while I improve on my vocal strength.”
Speaking on his new single which was released yesterday (May 26), the singer said, “It is a single from my forthcoming Extended Play album. As regards whether it will be a hit or not, I can only hope for the best, though I gave it my all. Times are hard, and this new single brings hope to the underprivileged (including myself), who have strenuously worked to become the best versions of themselves.”
The singer also stated that during his time away from the music industry, he was actively involved in his family business, which spans agriculture and real. This, he said, is in addition to efforts to diversify his talent.
