Sanwo-Olu made the call in his keynote address at a one-day seminar organised by the State Muslim Pilgrims Board, held at De-Blue Roof, Lagos Television, Agidingbi, Ikeja, on Sunday.
The governor, represented by his deputy, Dr Obafemi Hamzat, acknowledged the current period of swearing-in and inauguration for representative governments at both the federal and state levels, emphasising the crucial need for prayers.
Additionally, he encouraged the intending pilgrims to pray for President Bola Tinubu’s administration to succeed.
The immediate past Commissioner for Home Affairs, Anofiu Elegushi, announced that “a total number of 3,588 intending pilgrims would be performing the spiritual exercise through the state.”
He also stated that “The first batch would depart from Lagos to Madinah on Sunday, June 4, through Flynas Airline, a Saudi Arabia-based airline, adding that the airline has been known for excellent service delivery over the years.”
While informing the gathering that the governor had approved the sum of 100 Saudi riyal for each of the intending pilgrims for their Ihram clothes, Elegushi urged them to reciprocate the kind gesture by praying for the success of the governor and his deputy in their second term in office.
