The new Governor of Delta State, Sheriff Oborevwori, on Monday, pledged to build on the legacy of his predecessor, Ifeanyi Okowa, adding that he will also give special attention to Warri, the commercial hub of Delta, to advance the economy of the state.
In his inaugural speech after he being sworn in at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba, Oborevwori promised to encourage private sector growth, improve on small and medium-scale enterprises as well as continue with the various Social Welfare Investment Programmes.
He added that his administration would ensure the completion of all ongoing projects, notably roads, bridges, schools, and other physical infrastructure.
Oborevwori declared that the day “marks the beginning not only of a new administration, but of an era that will advance Delta State to greater heights in people-centred policies, human capital development, and infrastructure renewal.
“We shall develop the agricultural value chain, which is a major driver of sustainable economic growth. This administration will spare no effort to ensure that the development of agro-industrial parks is accelerated, given their potential to generate employment opportunities, create wealth, reduce unemployment, and improve food security.”
