The PUNCH reported that no fewer than 339 Nigerians, including the Central Bank of Nigeria Governor, Godwin Emefiele, were given national honours on Sunday by the immediate past president, Muhammadu Buhari.
The awardees were expected to get their medals and certificates on Thursday, June 1, 2023.
But in a statement on Tuesday, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Ibiene Roberts, said the collection of these materials had been shifted due to ”circumstances beyond the ministry”.
She added that a new date would be relayed to the awardees in due course.
The statement read,” All award recipients had been asked to come to the Federal Ministry of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs office located at the Federal Secretariat, Phase 1, Central Business District, to pick up their certificates and medals on Thursday, June 1, 2023.
“Due to circumstances beyond the control of the Ministry, the date for the collection of the instruments of the award as stated above is not feasible. A new date for the collection of the instruments of the award will be communicated to concerned recipients in due course.
“All Award Recipients are to send copies of their citations/resumes to the Secretary, National Honours Awards Committee, Federal Ministry of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs on or before June 9, 2023.”
