In a statement signed by the Executive Director, HDAN, Festus Adebayo, on Thursday, the housing group applauded the initiative as it will help alleviate unemployment and create job opportunities.
The PUNCH reports that the newly sworn-in governor on his first day in office performed a flag-off ceremony for a low-cost housing project in Makurdi.
The project which has 200 units comprising of fifty duplexes, one-bedroom apartments, two bedrooms apartments & three bathrooms apartments will be completed in his first 100 days in office.
Adebayo said, “We have read about how Governor Alia started his tenure with a groundbreaking of affordable housing projects in Makurdi”.
“This to us, is great news and we commend the governor for that initiative, we must say that this government will no doubt solve the problem of unemployment, and create job opportunities with the way he started with housing”.
The HDAN boss further advised other state governors who have just been sworn in to borrow a leaf and do the needful with mass housing projects adding that the federal government can’t resolve housing issues alone.
“Housing is a great provider of job opportunities, and it is the best way to attend to our youths in the area of employment. We also use Governor Alia’s housing stride initiative to encourage other governors who have just been sworn in to borrow a leaf and do the needful and we will invite him to Africa International Housing Show coming up in July”.
“Housing remains a key to solving unemployment issues in any state and any governor that wants to tackle unemployment must be housing friendly because when people are housed, the problem is reduced,” he pointed out.
