It will be recalled that the 43rd Miss Nigeria emerged best dressed female at the award show held on Saturday, May 20, where different celebrities stormed the black carpet in flamboyant outfits.
Beauty’s win, however, sparked mixed reactions online, with some arguing that there were better dresses at the event. Others accused her of buying Instagram likes to increase her chances of winning the award category.
Speaking on the saga in a recent interview on the “Me, Her, and Everything Else” podcast, Beauty stated that she did not expect to win best dressed female and that it came as a complete surprise to her.
She stated that it was her first time attending AMVCA and didn’t fully understand the award show’s operation, adding that she only knew they gave #500,000 to the best dressed male and female.
So, when she was proclaimed the winner, she didn’t want to go on stage to accept the award until she was encouraged to do so by her senior colleague, Tobi Bakre.
Beauty said when she mounted the stage, still in disbelief, she realized that it was expected of her to give a speech, which she couldn’t because she was too stunned to speak.
