The President, Bola Tinubu, is meeting with two members of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas and Benjamin Kalu, at the State House, Abuja.
While details of their meeting are yet to be known, it may be connected to the rife opposition both men have been facing in their candidacy for the speakership and deputy speakership of the 10th House of Representatives.
The PUNCH reported that Abbas and Kalu were endorsed by the governing All Progressive Congress for the offices of Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the 10th HoR, respectively.
Members of the 10th National Assembly will be inaugurated on June 13 and will thereafter choose a new Senate President, Deputy Senate President, Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives.
Thursday’s meeting follows an earlier engagement the President had with Senate President Ahmed Lawan and Speaker of the 9th House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila.
