Ayala said it was unlikely for his party to become extinct, adding that time for election had gone as its period of governance.
He made this disclosure on Monday in an interview with journalists after the Elders Forum of NNPP in Tangale Maledom, Billiri Local Government Area visited the secretariat following his appointment in an acting capacity.
According to the Chairman, the public should disregard allegations of the party melting into APC, as there was nothing to be worried about.
He said, “Before the election, we heard all kinds of things that we were working for APC, now it is time for governance. The time for politicking is gone. Every leader should be interested if consulted on how he will contribute to the development of the nation, the time for politicking is over.
“It is only proper that the party leader Engineer Dr. Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso is consulted and his opinion is sought by the present government as far as Nigeria is concerned he has been a lawmaker, governor for eight years, and minister. He has the experience to suggest the incumbent, I don’t know if he is hobnobbing but he is being a statesman and we feel if asked to give a suggestion that does not mean that NNPP is melting into any political party, NNPP is still solid and poised to winning next election.”
On the visit of his kinsmen, Ayala said, “This is simply gratifying having an opportunity to have your people as you could see them elders from my Local Government coming to throw their weight over the appointment that has been given to serve as acting Chairman of New Nigeria Peoples Party is quite thrilling is quite exciting to see this massive support.”
While speaking on the future of the NNPP in Gombe Ayala added, “The party to beat is the NNPP. We tormented both PDP and APC. Unfortunately, We couldn’t win any seats but we were hoping that we had ample time, then the structures were weak.
“We have ample time to reposition the party from the state level, local government level down to ward level and by the time we reposition the party very well, I can tell you we are poised for victory, if you are still in Gombe you will see what NNPP in Gombe will do. You can see the tremendous transformation politically speaking that had happened in Kano, we may not have gotten the kind of aura Kwankwaso led in Kano but with Honourable Khamisu Ahmed Mailantarki, we are going to replicate that in Gombe.”
Speaking earlier, the Woman Leader of the party and a member of the delegation, Rose Simon, lauded Ayala’s appointment adding that it was in the best interest of the party.
“We are here to commend a son of the soil on his elevation as chairman to run the affairs of the party in Gombe State. The new Chairman has a task to build structures toward a successful election in the state, he added.
