The Lead Pastor at the Redeemed Christian Church of God, LSC The Bridge, Ikeja, Lagos, Leke Adeboye, has given N2m in funding to five businesses.
According to a statement made available to The PUNCH on Wednesday, the gesture was part of the pastor’s moves to support Small and Medium Enterprises in Nigeria to navigate the struggles of getting started.
The statement quoted Adeboye as noting that lack of capital kills businesses even before they start.
Leke, who is the son of the RCCG’s General Overseer, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, said he had always been business-oriented growing up, while unveiling the winners of the ‘The Millionaire Quest,’ last Sunday as part of events marking his 41st birthday.
He said, “I learned early that lack of capital and support can kill a business before it even takes off.
“For those who have received this business grant, we will support and help them become millionaires who will in turn empower other youths. The goal is to help people achieve their dreams of excelling in their chosen business endeavours, thereby setting off a positive ripple effect on the economy of our nation.”
‘The Millionaire Quest’ as it was tagged, attracted over 400 proposals.
Out of the plethora of proposals, 10 persons were invited to a live pitch in front of a panel of judges. Five people were shortlisted as winners of the N400,000 grant.
