According to the French publication, FootMercato, Ligue 1 sides RC Lens and LOSC Lille will jostle to try to sign Nigerian forward Gift Orban from KAA Gent in the summer.
The 20-year-old has been nothing short of exceptional following his €3.5m transfer from Norwegian club Stabaek to Gent in January.
Orban’s outstanding display has seen him score 20 goals and registered two assists in 22 appearances for Gent, helping them to the league’s playoffs where he found the back of the net on six occasions in six games.
His impressive statistics in front of goals have seen Barcelona linked with the young striker.
However, the latest from France showed that Lens and Lille, who are both preparing for European campaigns next season, have expressed strong interest in Orban
“A true revelation of the Belgian championship in just six months, Nigerian striker Gift Orban could well discover Ligue 1 this summer. Indeed, two European clubs and rivals will jostle to try to afford his services, Lille and Lens,” the website wrote.
Orban holds the record for the fastest hat trick ever witnessed in a UEFA club competition after scoring three goals within the space of just 205 seconds against Istanbul Basaksehir in March.
Gent are open to selling the Nigerian and will listen to offers in the region of €20m for the player, who they secured his services for a €3.5m six months ago.
