The Old Grammarians Society of CMS Grammar School, Bariga, has donated 40,000 litres of a water processing plant to celebrate its 164th Founders’ Day.
The weeklong event, titled, ‘Looking up by faith, we see,’ had activities such as Lectures, Career Talks, Speech/Prize Giving Day, Novelty Match, Founder’s Day Service, Commissioning of School Projects, Luncheon and Students Feast.
Speaking during the Founder’s Day thanksgiving service held in the school’s hall, Principal of CMS Grammar School, Revd. Jacob Ogunyinka, commended the 1993 set, saying the water processing tank was worth N11m.
President of OGS, Mr Olu Vincent, in his address declared that his administration achieved some successes, which impacted the academic performance of students of the school.
Vincent said that with the completed Sen. Gbenga Ashafa E-Resource Library and laying of the Optic fibre in the school, students would be armed with useful materials to excel.
“We will require more support of Old Boys on these schemes.
“These are projects undertaken by the OGS UK, Europe and Americas; in the last four years, my greatest concern was to ensure that we build this and lay a sustainable working environment for the greatness of OGS.
Chairman, Founder’s Day Committee 2023, Dr Dipo Arigbede, said, “We will continue to sustain the tempo of our support to CMS Grammar School,” he added.
Also, the Lord Bishop, Diocese of Lagos West, the Right Rev. Dr James Odedeji, represented by Ven. Victor Alausa, added that CMS Grammar School, the first secondary school in Nigeria, had numerous reasons to thank God.
The school was founded on June 6, 1859 by Revd. Thomas Macaulay, he was also the first Principal of the school.
