Nigeria international Cyriel Dessers could be heading to Glasgow Rangers as reports indicated that the Gers are closing in on the striker, who has been identified as a replacement for Alfredo Morelos.
Teamtalk Thursday reported that Rangers were ‘well advanced’ in their chase for the Cremonese forward.
The Ibrox giants lost the prolific Morelos on free over the summer but have been doing their best to give Michael Beale a new frontman ahead of the new season.
Dessers scored six goals in 26 Serie A games last season, and that was enough to convince Gers to make a move for him.
Despite having their initial offer of €6m turned down by the Italian outfits, Rangers are not backing out and have made an improved bid for the Nigerian.
Teamtalk claimed that the player was ‘about to say goodbye’ to Cremonese after just one season following the club’s relegation to Serie B.
Dessers was unable to help them stay up, and the Italians are now ‘obliged to sell him’. As for the fee, the outlet add that the two teams could reach ‘an agreement’ at around €4.2m with a bonus of €1m.
