The Rector of the Federal Polytechnic, Offa, Kwara State, Dr Kamoru Kadiri, has admonished the newly admitted students of the institution to pursue their course of study with determination, commitment and discipline so as to be useful to the country.
Speaking at the 29th Matriculation ceremony for the 2022/2023 Academic season of the Polytechnic held at the permanent site of the institution in Offa on Friday, Kadiri said that each of the students had unique gifts, talents, perspectives and experiences which Nigeria and the world needed to solve problems.
He said, “I want you to note that primarily, the world needs you but more importantly; your country, Nigeria, needs you. I strongly believe that each of you has unique gifts, talents, perspectives and experiences that the world desperately needs. No matter what fields you pursue, you will soon realise that there are problems to solve, injustices to fight and truths to discover.”
He urged the students to make use of the polytechnic’s facilities and equipment, including the Internet, which he said, was a rich source of information on any topic.
Kadiri, however, warned the students to avoid anti-social groups.
A total of 11,450 students admitted across all faculties for Higher National Diploma and National Diploma for full time and part time courses took the matriculation oath at the institution.
