The group disclosed this on Monday at a press briefing in Abuja shortly after the endorsement of the SDP’s candidate by the Kogi-East elders.
Recall the Kogi-East stakeholders after deliberations and assessment of the governorship candidates from the zone, endorsed the candidature of Mr. Ajaka, in recognition of his philanthropic spirit, political sagacity, vision for the state, and refined personality.
Addressing newsmen, the group led by Peter Onuma, said, “We applaud Igala Elders Forum for reaching a historic decision on Igala consensus candidate ahead of the 2023 governorship election in Kogi State.
“The Igala Elders’ decision and choice of Muritala Yakubu Ajaka as consensus candidate was informed by his acceptability and popularity with the electorate and every segment of the society, and his capacity to strategically run a successful campaign without fear of exhausting his war chest.
While giving reasons further for the unanimous adoption of Ajaka as a consensus candidate, Onuma noted that it was as a result of his overarching presence across the state, his acceptability and popularity with men, women and youth from not only Kogi-East but also from Kogi-West and Central.
“The Elders shall in no distant time, but on a date to be communicated, present Muritala Yakubu Ajaka to Igala sons and daughters in particular and the state in general as the unanimous candidate with capacity and vision to develop the state and restore good, transparent and responsible governance in Kogi state, the group maintained.
