Alabi said this in commemoration of Nigeria’s Democracy Day on Monday while lauding the declaration of Hon. Sani Jaji for the Speakership position of the Ho of Representatives.
He described Jaji as a visionary politician and a would-be speaker of the people.
“For our Democracy to thrive, we must make use of our best to manage our strategic tiers of government.
“Jaji is not only the best but also the round peg in a round hole. His humanitarian trait has attracted thousands of skill acquisition programs to his people.
Alabi added that Jaji’s intervention as Committee Chairman on Intelligence and Internal Security led to a harmonious relationship among security agencies for the effective security of lives and properties across the country.
“As the 10th Assembly is set to be inaugurated and the ruling party has zoned the speakership to the North Western part of the country, no one is more capable than the man that has lived all his life for his people and always ready to serve humanity. Jaji is a loyal party man that can be relied on by the incoming president to drive the vision and agenda of the ruling party. He is a party man, who has the support of his people,” he added.
The PUNCH reports the National Working Committee of the All Progress Congress had on May 8, 2023, released the zoning formula for the leadership of the 10th National Assembly, picking Godswill Akpabio (Akwa-Ibom/South-South) President of the Senate; Jibrin Barau (Kano/North-West) for Deputy President of the Senate; Tajudeen Abbas (Kaduna/North-West) for Speaker; and Benjamin Kalu (Abia/South-East) for Deputy Speaker.
Several aspirants for leadership positions in the Senate and the House have, however, kicked against the APC leadership zoning plan, vowing to go ahead and contest against the party’s chosen candidates.
The APC candidates and their aggrieved opponents are banking on the votes of the newly-elected members who are far more than the returning members and members-elect in the opposition parties who collectively have more numbers than the ruling party.
